hi. i am a mom who is interested in getting a gift for my son, and i heard about this game system that's interactive...i mean swinging your arms like your hitting a tennis ball type of interactive. i think it's called the "we" or "oui" (i heard about it on npr, and it sounds like "we"). i tried to find it online with both spellings and got nothing. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance. (wow...i'm posting on a message board!)

    hello and welcome to MG.
You're talking about the Nitendo Wii. I never used it but from what I read I wouldn't recommend it. I don't think he will be able to feel gaming at maximum. It's better to have a PC for gaming and go out for sports. But you'd better take advice from someone who have tried it :)

Ive played the Wii and its a blast! It opens up a whole new area of gaming and interactivity. Im 17 and find it quite amusing. I even know parents who have fun with it as well. I HIGHLY recommend it. Bad thing is though, it will be nearly impossible to find one at a store :(

    Good luck

I've played the Wii at a friends house and I highly recommend it. I'm even considering purchasing one after Christmas when more become available. The system is the cheapest of the three next-generation gaming consoles and brings the most innovation into the video gaming industry. The Wii is extremely easy, and fun to play, and is aimed at all age groups. My four year old cousin had a blast playing Wii sports, as did my friend's 68 year old grandmother! Since the console was released a few weeks ago, availability is very limited. Nintendo usually releases new shipments for Sundays so call your local stores (Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, Walmart) every few days to find out when they will be getting more. Good luck, and I'm sure you're son will be pleased with what ever decision you make!

I didn't experience any problems. Sitting on the edge of the bed, about two feet away from the TV and sensor bar, everything was smooth and ran fine.

haha yea i get what u meant now...

my friends dad broke their "wii-mote" bowling and it went something like this:

dad: "no, i dont need the strap"
*owling motion, repote flies out of hand into the wall breaking remote*

    haha, funny stuff

Hahaha, maybe next time I should RTFA. :-D I actually thought the strap was pretty secure. It seems like you'd really have to whip that thing around pretty hard to break it and send it flying across the room into the tv! :-D

Lol yea, it does seem pretty strong(ish) My friends and I have already smacked random things in the room (including each other) while playing Wii Sports. Tennis can get pretty hectic lol
