  1. Hey guys its me the new tech guy here!,
I just finished some woes with a sound card. (15 bucks for a pretty decent one too :p ) umm now im haveing trouble with a game install. It is age of the empires 2 the age of kings. When i try to install the game it goes to a screen where it is calculateing disk space for the install then i get one of those microsoft error screens where it says that the program has to close and were sorry for the inconveinience. But a little while back i had that game on a second hd and installed linux to it. So it got reformatted and lost the game. (left a bunch of dead shells of the program on C) not a pretty site. Anyway when i bring up the technical information it shows a bunch of registry crap (at least i think its registry) and I see this one thing in there. It says D:/age of the emires 2. I thought that this was registry and ran registry mechanic (which did clean a good deal of errors out on the system registry). But it didnt do anything to the problem. I also tried scandisk to no avail. Any suggestions?

  2. Well its an older pc. Only 600MhZ with only 191 MB of ram. But it was working fine when i had it installed on it before and D: was my second hardrive. I have a dual drive system. Even though the D:/ drive is gone the drives are still labeled as if it was still there. E: and F: are my two cd rom drives. (ones a cd burner and the other is a dvd rom drive)But anyway, do you want me to post the technical information for the error? I will put that up if you wish. All i know is that when the install program is calculateing disk space it just comes up that the setup program needs to close and it say we are sorry for the inconveinience. I will ost the technical information momentarially. This error is so weird

  3. here's what the error says:
Microsoft Age of Empires II AutoRun/Setup has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

heres the technical stuff that goes along with it. (its a long one)

it has this thing under the technical section that this file will be included in the report:
    C:\DOCUME~1\vincent\LOCALS~1\Temp\6bf8_appcompat.txt
Well i think this long thing a a system snapshot in a technical text view that tells ya what was goin on when the error occured. But i think i found a thing that might help me. Gonna clear the TEMP folder.
Let me know if that helps ya with info a bit.

  4. nope the temp folder clean out didnt help me at all.... still getting the error.
