Game won't load

I bought a PC game called Schizm - Mysterious Journey. I have Windows XP. The game won't load at all. I closed all unnecessary processes, did a clean boot of Windows, cleared the Windows temporary folder, checked hard disk for errors, defragmented hard disk and even returned the game to the store for another one. It absolutely won't load it. The light just blinks and blinks and blinks but nothing. I put other CDs from other programs and they work fine. Is there something I am missing?
