Just noticed your post, and not a lot of detail there.

What games are you trying to play? Are they compatible with Windows 7?

What operating system did you upgrade from?

And yes, sometimes it takes a bit to get noticed. This is volunteer, and those of us who "hang around" aren't always hanging out...

having trouble with most recent and semi-recent games like far cry 3, crysis 3, gta iv etc. older dx9 games like unreal tournament 2k4 seem to play fine. upgraded from win7 32bit.

and it's just that usually posts here on MG get replies really quickly compared to some other forums i've been to. it just didnt feel right with this post and i was using an older version of opera mini, so i thought there was a problem. thx anyway:-D

You haven't mentioned your power supply.

Psu is generic 500w. is this important? Problem stated only after 7 64bit was installed.

    Greetings, 4mmo.

Power supplies are always suspect when random crashes occur during high stress situations. Running graphics-intensive games on a new Windows install qualifies as 'high stress'.

Quick questions for info: why did you migrate to 64-bit? Were you having problems with the 32-bit architecture? Have you tried reverting to the 32-bit Windows to see if your symptoms change?

i switched to 64bit because of the 4gb ram limit on 32bit. Other than that there were no other problems with the 32bit install. Have not tried reverting. And before you ask, yes, it's a clean install..

Is this an OEM machine? Just seems odd that an OEM computer system with 64-bit hardware would have shipped with a 32-bit Windows.

You might try zipping a few of your latest minidump files and attaching to a post here - there are a couple of MGs who are really good at deciphering dump files.

I installed PassMark DiskCheckup and started having similar types of problems...and some others. I had to get rid of it and the Seagate diagnostics program Seatools to fix the problem. For me, the worst problem was that the PC was crashing out of standby. The computer wouldn't finish exiting standby. Also, programs occasionally crashed, etc.

IDK, but if you have any diagnositics programs, maybe that's your problem or part of it, anyway.

Too bad :cry this happened. PassMark DiskCheckup is a great idea, and it really works very well, delivering the bottom line on disk health every 10 minutes
