Games for Windows Live, ports blocked/no connection

Well for a while now I thought my Uni proxy was blocking my games for windows live but have finally moved back home and found out it is in fact my pc.

router is forwarding ports fine, works with my laptop perfectly. Seems as though my pc is blocking the ports or Windows live itself.

Tried the usual disabling firewalls and searching online for ages looking for fixes.

Really don't want to have to re-install windows when I have all this work on it.

Got AVG installed and Spybot S&D, disabling them doesn't seem to change anything.

Using Windows 7 64bit. will post specs if needed.

Any suggestions would be great.
