I used to have a NVIDIA 64mb GeForce2 MX400 and when I played Unreal 2 with it, I had 20FPS. When I put my NVIDIA 128mb GeForce4 TI4800-SE in my pc, I tried Unreal 2 and I still had 20FPS!!!! This problem also happened on UT2003, Splinter Cell, Raven Shield, Counter-Strike (with Fusion Pack v10), Jedi Knight 2.........(with the GF2 MX400, 20 FPS, with the GF4 Ti4800-SE, still 20 FPS)

How can this problem be fixed? :( and please help!!!!!

disable vsinc , btw I believe these are all console games aight? maybe entering the command max_fps xxx will help ? where xxx is whatever you want. in counterstrike for example the max is 100

I disabled VSINC for OpenGL and now I get 100FPS. But what about my DirectX games? Unreal 2 has 20 FPS. UT2003, 20 FPS. When it was reviewed my graphics card, the Unreal Engine Powered games should have 130+ FPS!!!!

There's a vsync option for DirectX, too. Same window, different tree section.

General rule is if FPS is too low, turn the bells and whistles off. That includes ansitropic filtering and antialiasing. Those two and vsync together will reduce your frame rate by at least half.

Of course, if your framerate is 220, you can turn them back on. Even when I turn them on, though, they never go about 2x, and vsync never turns on. Vsync = dumb.

Never mind what I said here. I'm on crack, the setting probably isn't there.

    From http://www.d-silence.com/video/vsync1.shtml:
"Well, in order to receive Microsoft's WHQL certification, this option cannot be available. Microsoft does not want Direct3D games to be played without VSYNC."

You might have the option to disable DirectX vsync with some non-WHQL drivers supplied by nVidia or your card's manufacturer. I'm using Detonator 44.03, and I don't.

What you can do is increase the refresh rate of your monitor in Direct3D. That will increase the maximum possible FPS, at least.

MS wants that feature disabled so people can't get visual tearing in DirectX, they don't want directx blamed for it.

try a utility called nvtweak to overide vsync.

when I disable Vsync, my graphics get terribly choppy, and feel like they arent held together (obviously). is ther a way around that? the loss of smoothe graphics isnt worth the FPS gain to me if it has to remain that way.
