Games minimizes itself

recently my games minimize themselves never had this issue before. most games are able to bring back up but one game will minimize and cant do anything but close through task manager. i have googled it but thjeres an issue theres no programs that i know of that could be the reason why, i dont even have anti-virus at the moment. i thought it may be cause of my graphics but ive been able to play just fine before. the only thing i thought of is reinstalling windows....

the game that i cant restore is GTA 4 but im able to play it just fine before

 

What version is your windows. As I run my games of steam and have windows 8.1 installed and mine does the same thing. Not sure why though?

 

im on win7 64bit. rocksmith will minimize but i can bring it back up. i like win8 but i just dont know how well games compatibility are.

 

found this in the event viewer:
"A request to disable the Desktop Window Manager was made by process (Grand Theft Auto IV)"
dont know if it has something to do with it

 

That is just saying that GTA was going fullscreen and disabling Aero.

Use msconfig to disable your startup items and see if it still happens.

 

i turned off pretty much everything i dont need started up still does it. should i go ah=ead with reinstalling windows or is it something else?

 

You have tried running the programs as a "window" and "window full screen"?

 

It could simply be a driver issue.

Reset driver defaults, try a different drier versions, etc.

 

GTA 4 doesnt go windowed its the only game that crashes once it minimizes. Rocksmith 2014 does minimize but im able to bring that game back up.

which drivers? ill start with the graphics and see what happens.

uninstalled graphics driver restarted then installed latest non beta from ati drivers site still minimizes

 

reinstalled windows problem solved

 

I guess that works.

Kinda like using a bazooka on a nail though.

 

Sorry it was irritating. It does happen at times I'll ask about something and ill figure it out. Felt like adware or something I was starting to get ads and stuff
