Games that should have a sequel

    .... or be remade.

I was thinking about this the other day while playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3.

I would love to see a revamped version of that game, then I got to thinking of other games in years gone past that I would love to see with todays graphical and physics technology.

One of the biggest would be Sniper Elite from 2003 (I think), this game looked pretty nasty even for it's time, but it was a phenomenal game and probably the only good sniper game ever made.
It had a bullet cam so when you would score a 1 hit kill shot (mainly headshot) you would get a matrix style slow mo cam following your bullet to target.
It was set in WW2, had great sound and atmosphere, if you played on harder settings you would not only have to lead a moving target but also take into account distance and wind.
Make a sequel, move from WW2 to modern and with todays graphics and physics this would be absolutely incredible.

Anyone here can think of games they would like to see remade or a sequel to?

Off the top of my head, to remake:

Lunar: The Silver Star & Eternal Blue... rpgs I loved on, of all things, the Sega CD :heli

    and

Out of This World... I think this one was on the Sega Genesis. Man, time gets away.

Throwin this out there but there needs to be a new Mechwarrior
cause i've been playing Mechwarrior4 forever and been wanting a new one
and yes i played the ones on the Xbox, they just don't have the same feel to me. Thats why I'm saying there needs to be a new MW

Games that should have a sequel:

    Planescape: Torment

    The Witcher (it's coming! Wohoo!)

    Games that should be remade:

Suikoden 3, with updated graphics, and with voice acting.

The first two Fallout games, same deal. Update the graphics, leave the game play alone. Add voice acting when needed, leave the story alone. All of it!

:celebrate @ Mimsy, I completely missed Planescape: Torment when it came out and forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder, I'm gonna have to track that one down; I was a d&d nerd even before I was a computer nerd! ;p Anymore jewels you have stashed away?

I discovered Out of This World had a 15th anniversary remake under the aka Another World in 2006. Not the same as a sequel, but I'm still gonna get it just for old time's sake. The original was 1991. Gettin' old lol...

Just finished the Witcher last week. Amazing. Waiting for sequel, and just picked up Dragonage: Origins today. Sorry to get off topic Nedlamar but the d&d game got me excited ;p

How about a list of patches that makes Torment considerably less buggy and more enjoyable? When you're ready to install the game and play it, let me know, I'll get you some URLs. :)

I should really pick that up again, I got a little way in and my attention was drawn to other things, I was thinking about it last night but I'm right in the middle of world dommination in Total war so a little busy atm :-D

Adding to the topic, I would love to see both Rome and MediEval Total War game revamped with the Napoleon engine.

I agree that Out of this World needs a sequel. One of the best games of its type ever.

Although Flashback was better and more fun and also needs a sequel! ;)

I also agree with a Torment sequel, one of my fav Dnd themed Vg's for sure.

Along the lines of Flashback and OOTW, Blackthorne was one of the most underrated games of its time and id love to see a sequel to that as well, as well as a sequel to Chrono Trigger........i know your thinking, blather, there was a sequel to CT called Chrono Cross. I say to that BLASPHEMY!!! that game sucked. Restart, do over, do right. ;)

If that as the old Amiga game then I agree it was superb, think the French software house in Infrogrames are still going, so never know, the puzzles to getting the different levels where superbly thought out.

Didn't they release a Flashback on the MegaDrive (Genesis in US)?

If it's the same game it was freaky, would be good to see it again.

@Halo... You had an Amiga?... 500?...man I wanted one of those so badly but my Spectrum +2 128k WITH built in tape deck was good enough :-D

I was actually thinking I would like to see Bomb Jack remade in 3D, that might be cool, not sure though as it's timeless.

    A few more...

    Silent Hill
    Resi Evil
    Operation Wolf :-D
    Guantlet
    G-Police

There was one on the Snes too but I can't remember for the life of me what it was called, StarWing I think, was an awesome game, I used to play it round a mates house.

It's the same Flashback that you're thinking of Halo, it was initially released on the Amiga and ported to the Sega Genesis later on... I agree it was a great game! Those side-scrolling puzzle types were all a lot of fun. I didn't realize Infogrames had a hand in the game, I know them from Civ III.

I remember Blackthorne too blatherbeard, I remember I used to mute the sound on it and play it listening to the Doors tune Riders on the Storm lol... good times.

Gauntlet is a classic, and I haven't thought about Operation Wolf in a looooong time, I used to get so mad at it when I was little because it was so hard lol... the original resident evil was great, didn't really get much into the others. Are you thinking of StarFox for the SNES by any chance Nedlamar?

The camera angles on the Resident Evil 1 and 2 games made them totally unplayable for me. I didnt get into them til RE 3-nemesis. At least the camera didnt interfere with gameplay at that point.

@Scooby.... Quite possibly, I've actually been looking for it for some time on and off, it was a spaceship type blaster in the 3rd person perspective with alomst wireframe graphics if memory serves me correctly. I just remember having a lot of fun with it.
As for Op Wolf, yeah it was frustrating on the pc's and consoles but the arcade version with twin mounted Uzi's was a lot of fun :-D

@Blatherbeard.... Really? lol I'm the exact oposite, I thought Resi 3 was horrible, in fact Resi 2 was the last one to have a real "Dread" atmosphere IMO, 4 had it to some extent and 5 doesn't have any at all lol

That was not a crono trigger game as far as i am concerned. It was just a game that had crono in its name so that people would buy it. 20 Fingers and toes down :( That game stunk so badly i am surprised people did not gag on the smell when they went into the game store to purchase it.

    Games i want to see:
A new Master of Orion---->one where they actually get the game play right. There was not a good one since MOO 2

I second the person who said they should do a new mech warrior game. But not as tough as mw4 I never managed to finish it cause the diffuculty level got so hard at least for me.

@Scooby....... Thats it!! That game was so much fun, I must admit I havn't searched for it in a while but I always looked for StarWing with no results. I may have to go emulator hunting later :-D

@Halo... lol thats cool, I still have my Spectrum too. I pulled it out of the loft about 7 years ago and tried to do something computery with it, like draw a simple 2D house.....took me hours :-D I still got 2 Atari's kicking around somewhere in their original boxes, unless my mum has thrown them away. Trouble being 4000 miles away and she tells me "I've been spring cleaning" , always makes me worry lol

Actually, I was thinking, "finally, someone else who understands that ChronoCross was a mediocre spin-off excuse to make money, and not a sequel in any way". :p

I got the re-release of ChronoTrigger for my DS, restranslated and with a monster arena side-show (surprisingly fun), and it has aged remarkably well. It's still as fun and as good a game as I remember.

I wanted to add another game i wanted to see remade or see a sequal too. idk who here has had a sega console but there used to be a game called Shining force. It was a turn based rpg but all the battles took place on a digaea like battle field. I bet that disgaea was modeled after it as far as the batlles go. One thing to note about this title is that they did make games with the title of shining force (i.e. shining force neo) but they were live action rpgs. Where all the battles took place in real time and they were nothing like the orignal shining force. It was an ok game but just like crono trigger/crono cross it was a let down to fans of the orignal game like me.

You didn't play the other ones? ;-; They were horrible. The first rawked many elementary school hours though.

I agree about Chrono Cross. :/ That game made me sad on the inside.

I'd love to see Lufia, and Lufia II redone with 3D graphics, and real music. Uggh, that'd be amazing.
