If you have Windows XP, you are probably running a lot of background programs that you dont and never will use. This creates less overhead for your game to run to its top form.

GameXP will disable those pesky background programs and get your comp running to optimum speed.

NOTE:If you are on a network or use msnm or outlook, this program will disable them, so you will need to reenable them by going to Administrative Tools, then Service. Find the service called Messenger and the service called server. Then enable and start them.

When you are in a game window will revert the game to 60hz, regardless of what you have set on your moniter and what your monitor can handle. One way we 'shortcut' this is to turn off our vsync on the monitor, but that is BAD FOR YOUR MONITOR.

Refresh Force is a third party program that keeps windows from reverting to 60hrtz. So essentially, you can have vsync on and still get up to 160 fps (depending on your monitor and vcard).

Both of these program only need to be run once and can revert back to normal state, if you wish it to be.

From another forum. Ive used GameXP and it cut my XP boot time in 1/2 or less and I can run 2k3 more fluidly at the same res I play on, as well as other games running somewhat better or a lot better. Give it a shot, it does work!

I just maintain my startup programs with StartupCPL. Programs that disable services and startup items with letting you know what usually end up with a problem for many people. Ill take a second look at it, but didnt add it here for that reason.

As for RefreshForce, just an FYI, there was a bug in the older drivers that basically capped refresh rates to 60 hz and that is no longer and issue, which is why RefreshForce (and similar programs hosted here) are no longer updated.

I dont use RefreshForce, just GameXP, I didnt mean to have they there with it

I use msconfig to stop programs that startup automatically. The good thing is with GameXP, is that if it does happen to screw up something or you dont like the effects, you can undo it and revert back to the way it was before it was ran, which is a good feature. Ive had it set with it for 2 days now and not a single problem/crash or anything!
