    Ok so I got a new Graphics card. Had it running fine when I installed from disc.
    Updated and it's all gone to hell.

    I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3 different sets of drivers/ccc etc.
    Each time I've completely uninstalled previous, removed all files and folders and reg items.

    Tried all 3 several times and each time had bugs.
    I now have the very latest drivers and ccc etc installed and for all intents and purposes it's fine, I ran Fallout 3 perfectly.

    Now, the thing is my monitor doesn't display full screen unless I set it to low res and everything is blurry and huge.
    That I'm pretty sure is an XP thing due to the fact I can't install monitor software on anything prior to Vista.
    So I have approx 1 inch of black space around desktop.
    As I said I think this will fix with an upgrade to Windows 7.

    Main problem is every game I play except Fallout will have 3 inches of black space down each side but is full top to bottom.
    Fallout plays at the same size as desktop.

    Games I've tried are Crysis, Oblivion, Bioshock and Op Flashpoint.
    All have been reinstalled and many different res an dgraphic changes.

    Current Desktop res = 1776 X 1000

    PC specs

    Asus M2N VM
    AMD XP64 X2 6000 3.1
    2GB Kingston 6400
    Sapphire HD4890 Vapor X 2GB
    PSU = Coolermaster PCAR 600w
    IDE HDD's

    XP Home SP2

    Monitor = Hanns G HH241 (23.6")

    Connected from HDMI on monitor to dvi, then to dvi female to HDMI into card.
    Cables supplied with card.

    Now please bare in mind that all these games worked fine when I first installed the card.

    This is really starting to annoy me now. I've been working at it for around 15 hours all together and this problem is just.........odd.

    Ok never mind. Would you believe at some point the setting for "Full" and "Fit" in my monitor settings got changed to "Fit"

    So gaming issue now solved.

    Still have the 1" black border on desktop though, am I right in thinking Windows 7 will fix this problem?

    Oh also I loaded Bioshock into full screen but when I backed out my screen was all fuzzy with little pixels. I took off the dvi-HDMI connector and now have it set at HDMI from monitor to DVI in card.

    OMG, I'm glad it's pretty much sorted but want to sit in a corner and cry like a little girl at how stupid the fix was lol

    Ok this problem is now fixed.

    Although the issue would have seemed to be XP, I installed windows 7 this morning and ALL my previous problems are gone.

    See http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=209544 for other issues I had with this card/software.

    The problem with the full screen desktop issue was a scaling issue with CCC, after spending 4 hours talking to Sapphire tech, the guy eventually said "I don't know what else to try"

    But like I said, this would seem to have been a compatability issue with XP/4890/ccc

    Windows 7 installed, works perfectly.
