I have been doing some reading here on the forums and have heard that creating separate partitions to install games to increases the overall performance of gameplay.

Is this true?? And if so, what programs would I need to do this?

Depends on the computer. IMHO, this is a great solution for virtual memory if you have an older computer you want to tweak performance from. If you have 1-2 gigs of ram, then I doubt you will see a performance difference. Either way, because even multiple partitions are on the same hard drive (platter). An easier way would be to swap your virtual memory to another hard drive, which is nice to have for backups. Of course, as always, there is no substitute for real system memory (2 gigs for a gamer). So, consider buying more memory or a second hard drive.

    Thanks MA!!

I am going to be starting out with 1 Gig on my rig to start, but am upgrading as soon as I can afford it.

Sure thing, if you have problems, let us know. Another thing to consider. Some gamers talk about all of these tweaks, but if your game can run at 70 fps, its just for benchmark purposes. Many benchmark for high frame rates just to show off top fps. The human eye, according to some sources, does not not recognize much over 21 fps. Personally, if your game can run at 30-35 fps, your good to go.
