Hello all.... as some of the regular visitors here at MG may know, I occasionally get bored after a few brews, and decide to post some system temperatures. Well, it's Sunday, late afternoon, and I've been playing Call Of Duty 4 (COD4) for about 3 hours with HWmonitor running in the background. I launched HWM about 10 minutes before I started gaming. Then I grabbed a small Coleman cooler (not a CPU cooler, but one full of ice ;) ) and stuffed a six-pack of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale into its icey goodness. Then I launched COD4 and began to drin.... errr... began to play. Anyway- when the beer ran out, I exited the game and decided to post the temps recorded during a 3 hour COD4 session....

(BTW- I use Riva Tuner to lock my video card fan at 70%; the CPU and GPU are at factory stock speeds)

wish i could get temps that low. for cod 4 and WaW, my gpu temps get near 80, but I have the 8800gt with the single slot cooler (learnt my lesson on that one) . but my cpu temps are fine. It doesn't take much time til my temps reach 90 or more, then i have to clean out the fan, put some arctic silver 5 and it's back to normal again. I've actually been thinking about getting something like this

but I'm afraid to use it especially cause it doesn't have a fan, but the reviews are pretty good. and so is the price.

fyi, i use evga precision, and keep my fan @ 100%

@ thesmokingun: I had a similar cooler on my previous video card (a factory OCed 9600GT) and it worked great. I had the Accelero S2 (link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186017) and I used some cable zip-ties to attach a 120mm fan to it and it worked excellent. The cooler you linked to is the S1 v2 and has 4 pipes instead of 2. I've heard great things about it, esp. when combined with a 120mm fan and some zip-ties.
    :-D

    (I just checked Newegg and they have a dual-fan add-on for the S1 & S2 VGA coolers; it's only $10US; link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186021 )

thanks for the info dlb. I would hate to replace the 8800 yet, seeing that it still plays anything thrown at it. And besides, i don't have another computer that I could put it in other than a p4, but it doesn't have pci express. i'll have to look into that fan, it's only $10, and the cooler is only $26, so a reasonable price to keep it running longer.
