Greetings :wave, I stumbled unto these forums when I googled Gateway 7330Gz Drivers, and while I have read the thread titled "Gateway 7330GZ ethernet controller" http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=165813 I have not found the solution.

Okay so here's my issue, I did a Windows Xp SP2 Clean install on my laptop and I cannot get my wireless connection to work because my wireless radio won't turn on by pressing fn+f2. I have tried the solutions on the former topic ,but I do not have the BCM440x by BroadCom ethernet controller at least I don't think so because when I did install that BroadCom driver, it had this icon that I never had before. And the BroadCom driver did enable the wireless radio to be turned on by pressing Fn+f2 BUT it conflicted with the Windows Zero configuration (WZC) which is what I use to scan and connect to wireless networks.
I have installed the network drivers supplied at Gateway's website, but they are not working. When I click Device Manager>other devices, the following have question marks (meaning no drivers) ; Network Controller, Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, PCI Modem, Video Controller (VGA Compatible), Video Controller.

I used SIW and I tried creating a text version of my report, but since I have the freeware, I cannot create a text version.

If I left anything out, feel free to ask, and any replies are greatly appreciated.

Here's an upload of my report

And one more thing, when I go to Start>Turn off Computer>

The option to put my PC to standby is greyed out (accessible), why is this? I have installed this copy of windows on two other machines, and this is the first time this occurs.

I looked through the report and it looks like the wifi driver is installed, so got to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it; if the wifi connection utility is listed too, uninstall it also. Restart the PC. Download the wifi driver from this link (you may already have this driver from Gateway). DO NOT install it! Use TUGzip to extract it. When installing TUGzip just click 'Next' all the way through. At the end of the install, there will be a little box for "Launch TUGzip"; go ahead and launch it; click "Next" all the through again until you see a "Finish" button; there will be a column on the left side with a bunch of different archive formats; click the "Select All" button; click "Finish". A window will open that looks like an Explorer-type window, close it. Right click the driver you downloaded and click the 2nd upward pointing green arrow, it will say something like "Extract to: .\filename" and the driver will extract to a folder of the same name. Then use the following steps to install the driver via the Device Manager...
    1. Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager
    2. Click the little plus sign next to the category of the driver you want to install/update
    3. Right click the device and select "Update Driver"
    4. The "Hardware Update Wizard" will open; click the bottom circle and click "Next"
(this window may be called the "New Hardware Wizard" but everything else is the same)
    5. In the next window that opens, select the bottom circle for "....a specific location"
    6. The next window that opens, select the top circle, and the 2nd box for "include this location in the search" and click the "Browse" button (the green box in the screen shot) and a "Browse for folder" window will open.
    (see screenshot)
    7. When the "Browse" window closes, the location you selected in step 6 will appear in the location bar (purple box in screen shot); click "Next".
    8. At this point, the driver should install. When it's done, click finish. It's usually a good idea to restart the PC at this point.

That should do it. I think the problem you're having is that the Gateway wifi utility is over-riding the Windows wifi service and causing problems.... anyway- give it a shot using the steps above. If you have questions or problems, feel free to post. :-D

Okay I downloaded the 9528158 driver from gateway after uninstalling the broadcom driver. I extracted the 9528158 driver using TUGzip and once I was at the update driver at the device manager I followed the steps and looked into the 9528158 folder and clicked next but I got the message "The Wizard could not find the software on your computer for..."...

Then I went ahead and re-installed the Broadcom 802.11G Network adapter from the folder titled "BCM_REL_4_100_15_5_WHQL" which most likely came from the driver titled "BCM40100.exe - Broadcom Wireless Driver Version 4.100.15.5" and my wireless radio worked and best of all without the Broadcom software conflicting with Windows Zero Configuration software.
Once I had that working I went to Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections>Wireless Network Setup Wizard">Setup a new wireless network> followed the onscreen instructions and I connected to my wireless network. and Viola!! My wireless internet works now :]

All these drivers are confusing, and I am still missing some, including the Ethernet controller which I do not know what its used for or if I really need it. But for now a Big thanks for helping me solve this, I am deeply grateful for your help

:highfive Glad I could help! :-D

As to the other missing drivers: I recommend that you install the chipset drivers first; they can be installed by just running 'em; you don't need to use the Hardware Wizard like we did above for the wifi drivers. You'll need to restart the PC after installing the chipset drivers. Here's the links to all your system drivers. Other than the chipset drivers, you can use the steps we used for the wifi drivers for each driver I listed below.
    chipset: http://support.gateway.com/support/... Intel(r) Chipset Driver Revision: 5.1.1.1002
    ethernet: http://support.gateway.com/support/...dscr=Gateway Network DriversVersion: 3.63.0.0
audio: http://support.gateway.com/support/...y Conexant Audio Driver Version: 6.13.10.8240
    video: http://support.gateway.com/support/...=Gateway Display DriversVersion: 6.14.10.3619
modem: http://support.gateway.com/support/... Conexant V.92 Modem Driver Version: 6.1.24.0
media reader: http://support.gateway.com/support/...eries Memory Card Reader DriverRevision: 2.2e
If you don't have yellow question marks in the Device Manager, you don't need to install the drivers. If something isn't working (like the sound, for example) but there isn't a yellow question mark in the Device Manager, then something is else is going on, it may not be a driver problem....

Okay my PC is up and running pretty darn well. The standby option is accessible once again :strong

I still have one more question,When I boot up or restart my Pc with a flash drive in it, it doesn't let me load windows unless I take it off. It displays this message "Remove disks or other media. Press any key to restart".
In gateway's downloads section I see a "BIOS Downloads". I don't know if I should download that because I don't know what effect it will have on my laptop. So could it be a driver problem or should I try what Bugballou suggested ?
    Bugballou recommended me to try

Bugballou's suggestion is right o the money. Change the BIOS boot order so the hard drive is first and it should solve the problem. However, I have seen this same issue on several different laptops from different manufacturers and changing the boot order didn't always help. Personally, I think it's a good idea to keep USB drives unplugged from the PC until they need to be used. I won't go into a lengthy monologue as to why I think this as it's technical and tiresome. :p
