Gateway all-in-one freezing up

I have a month-old Gateway ZX4300 all-in-one that has been working fine until 2 days ago when it began freezing up. Determined from the malware forum that it is not a malware problem. See discussion here:

When I do a clean reboot with no services/startup programs other than Microsoft, it will still eventually freeze up. Unable to access Event Viewer in select startup mode or safe mode. I can get online in safe mode.

I have not added any hardware since the initial setup. Please help! I surely do not want to do a "clean install" as Gateway has suggested unless that is the only option.

Just read over your Software thread - have you tried anything differently since your last post there?

Hmm, freezes when trying anything that involves Administrative tasks, freezing when on the 'net. (Just thinking aloud here.).

Are you logged into an account with Administrators rights or as a normal user?

What peripherals do you have connected?

How is the PC when you disconnect from the internet and disable (or uninstall if you have the drivers to hand for later reinstallation) all your network adapters?
