gateway full factory recovery

    i got a new gatewa gt5404 and (long story short) i want to do the full factory recovery (f8 repeatedy) but i don't even get that option in advanced boot mode. i had to restore from disk- (not the factory recovery disc mind you) any ideas on a work around - i am no technogeek,just a man trying to record his music & surf the net.

    If someone has already installed another operating system, they may have formatted the disk, and in doing so, deleted the hidden partition, so
    the end result is that nothing is listening for your requests to start the recovery process.

    BTW: Pressing F8 during boot up off a windows box, usually invokes safe mode.
    Are you pressing F8 while booting off a recovery disk?
