    Thankd for any help:cry

I think DMIpool error is usually a HD error. Do you have a bootable disc around you could try to boot from just to see if the desktop is working ok in terms of CPU and RAM not being the problem. If it boots to the CD then it is probably a HD problem.

Running chkdsk /r may fix the issue. Does the HD have an OS installed? Which one?

it's not letting me boot from the cd either, but the bois list both the hd and cd rom correctly

Disconnect the HD and see if it boots from CD.

It dosn't the responce I get is:
Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter, the disc is in the drive

Do you have another bootable disc to try? Do you have any blank CD/DVDs?

I believe that model has IDE Hard drive. If so when you were replacing the CPU did you disconnect the IDE cables from the motherboard? If so when you put it/them back did you connect them to the correct connectors. On the motherboard it is printed which one is for HD/Disc0 and which one is for CDROM/disc1. Make sure that the HD cable goes from Disc0 at the motherboard.

I think because the DMI error appears to be related to your HD you should concentrate on booting from a CD.

Keep the Hd disconnected. Which CD are you trying to boot from? Which OS is on the HD?

I'm thinking if you are using XP maybe download the recovery console ISO (only 7mb download) and burn it to a CD using imgburn and the "Write Image File to Disc" option. Then try to boot from that disc. That would tell us if the PC could boot to CD. We would also have the recovery console available to maybe try to fixboot or fixmbr on the HD if it looks like those commands might be useful.

You should be able to boot from the Gateway recovery CD. Try cleaning it to see if that helps.

The recovery console download and burn would be a chance to test whether you can boot from a different CD. Since your error when trying to boot from the Gateway CD is "No OS found. Insert system disc" that is saying that the CDROM is not reading the recovery CD correctly. A different disc may be easier for the CDROM to read.

I can't think of any way forward unless you can get the PC to boot from some sort of CD. The error you receive is just saying that the one CD you have tried is not working.

Hmm, have you tried with just the HD attached an no CDROM? Maybe the CDROM is causing trouble.

Have you cleared the CMOS by unplugging the PC and removing the small watch-type coin-shaped battery for a minute or two. Then putting battery back and plugging back in. You will be prompted to set time/date in BIOS. That might be worth a quick try.

I have tried with the HD and I get the verifing dmi pool data. THe also change the bois date too. I just can't understand what is the problem.

I'm not sure where to go from here. If you put the CD in another computer will the computer boot from it? (You can just eject the CD after testing without making any changes)

    ****
On the gateway with the HD attached does F11 at startup give you any recovery options?
    ********
On the floppy I just want you to make sure you don't have a floppy in the drive or a media card in any media slots as they might cause confusion.

No I do not get a F11 option. It's starting up but still stops at verifiny dmo data pool
