Gateway Solo 5300 XP drivers

    Back ground ...... this belongs to a friend that refuses to upgrade lol

    It came with win 2000 and was working just fine.... I upgraded to a legit copy of xp and now the net card will not work.... im 100 % sure its a driver issue
    I can reinstall win 2000 and it auto finds the driver and life is happy ... i tried the upgrade and a reformat fresh install and the driver will not work...
    I can view it under device driver and have tried the gateway driver directly from the site .... the driver install is kind of odd ...it shows up for a second in a dos window and closes out with no action taken from me....
    I have called the gateway help people and they say the file is not buggy and should work....however they could not get it to work
    I have uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it 1,000 times.... i even held a glock 22 to the hard driver and that did not help

    Hi

    Can you attach the log in a text file as written below.


    Hopefully it may help us ID the network card model its likely an Intel 10/100 card but which one, as the chipset in this PC is a very old one and dont as yet know if a 4400zx Chipset for XP is available (very quick look at Intels archives have the driver for Win 9x only)
