G'DAY I have Virus Trj\Downloader.GK

I would appreciate any help please. I ran Panda ActiveScan and it told me I had 28 infected files and fixed 27. However one remained....

I have also had some rather strange happenings with my PC ie problems with things not running but no conflict messages or error messages (printer, floppy drive, cd rom drive). But happy for now to rid my pc of this virus to start with!

Win 98, Dial-up connection. Have AVG, Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware and have just installed ZoneAlarm

 

It has been a while since I've used Win98. You should be able to do a search for the file, and once its found, delete it. If it has its properties set to system, hidden, or read only, you may have to change the attributes before you can delete.

Please note the steps that you are able to complete and the ones that give you problems. Note that you need to be in Safe Mode with System Restore OFF and have the Viewing of Hidden Files ENABLED as per the instructions in the link. Make sure to do the Online Scans.

Post back and let us know how you fared. Also, send us a HijackThis Log. Make sure to follow the instructions below:

Note that your HijackThis should be up-to-date (v1.98.2) and MUST be extracted to its own safe folder - C:\Program Files\HijackThis!

Also note that, before you scan, you MUST close all running programs including your web browser, e-mail and items in the system tray.
