Hey - "Geeks" are big news lately:

RE: GeekMan (I'm glad that's not the name of this site)
"Geeks are chic, and they have an action figure to prove it" - Chicago Tribune article

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/features/chi-0408050026aug05,1,3095963.story
(in case you can't open the story directly, I had to register to read it, I'll upload it as a document)

And here's another business idea for some of you :)
TECHNOLOGY -- "Geek patrols ride mouse to rescue"
Home computer users can dial a geek for one who makes house calls

 Just thought some of you might want to read these articles.

Ignore the links -- they just take you to pages where you have to REGISTER to read the story -- I was on the page with the story when I copied the url address. So just open the .doc if you want to read them.

Walking thru Best Buy with Kodo, MA and CP earlier, they had an ad for Geek Patrol with in-home service calls... and then realized that I'm becoming the guy I used to pick on in High School. I'm SO not looking forward to the next reunion... those guys are probably huge now and full of bitter angst lookin for payback LOL ;)

The technology story had this line:

In early July, Joey Jasion, dressed in a black clip-on tie, white collared shirt and black polyester pants,

I have always read that synthetic materials hold more electrostatic charge than natural fibers, that one should wear, say, cotton clothes (that had anti static treatment in the dryer), when addressing hardware concerns.

This would be to cut down on the danger of ESD.

    Thoughts?

As long as their shoes are grounded, and the air isn't too dry, they should be fine ;)

i wish i had a geek that would come to my house. go through my puter, remove all those things i don't need, 'tweak it' (whatever that means), and explain to me the basics. I'm thinking of writing to MS and offering to rewrite their instructions so that 'ordinary' people can understand them, and include in the "help' topics the things that ordinary people need. the HELP button is virtually worthless. a good example is 'print screen' which isn't even on there. most of the problems i have had are down to user ignorance.
