geForce 2 w/ Win2k sp4

I've been having trouble w/ my display adapter for about a month now. The problem seemed to have come up about the time I updated to Win 2k SP4. The video card is a geforce2 mx100/200, and my comp won't boot correctly unless I boot in Safe-Mode or the display adapter's disable. I'm pretty sure the problem is w/ the software and not the card itself, because somehow the problem was avoided for a bit, but only until I rebooted. I was running w/ Nvidia 71.89 driver, then I tried upgrading to 81.98. The 71.89 was running fine until the upgrade. Any suggestions?

Any reason why you don't rollback to 71.89 if they worked for you ? Remember that you have a rather old Graphics Adapter and Nvidia is probably no longer testing the new drivers for that type of Graphics Adapter.

 

That is probably my biggest problem, my computer is very outdated. But I have tried going back to that driver but the same problems persist. Maybe it's time for a bit of updating.

 

Did you use the Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs to remove the 81.98 driver, before installing the 71.89 ?

But it is wonderful when the computer tells you it is time to upgrade, instead of waiting for oneself to make the choice
