    Hi all,
Im buying a new graphics card and wanted some help!
I was looking at geforce 6600 and 6600 gt, is the difference between the two worth the extra money? Also is it worth getting 256mb over 128mb?

    Thanks for the help

if your going for a 6600 i would definetly got for the GT. At the moment it wont make too much of a difference if u get 128 or 256 or ram but it will probably in the future.. so go for a 6600GT 256 or save up a little longer and get a 6800GT, u wont regret it

You get what you pay for the perforamce/price is pretty propotional. To me it only becomes not worth it when you spend an extra $200 for an ultra for about 7fps.

are graphics on a PC better than on an xbox? (with 6600, 6800?)

    windows xp
    80gb hdd
    p4 3ghz
    1gb ddr ram
    U need any other specs?
Is my comp good enough to handle games?
I looked and I can find a g600 128mb for 50pounds (my pound sign wont work for some reason!) and a g8ooGT 256mb for 350pounds. Is it worth that much?!

Im confused, I was looking at the benchmark scores from this website http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/2004-27gpu2_13.html
    for different graphics cards.
Geforce 6800gt has 146.9fps where as geforce 6800gt pci-express has only 60fps! Im assuming that the first must be agp, but I thought that pci-express was better than agp?!
Alsothe 6600gt has 62.7 fps, 2 more than the 6800gt!?
How can the same card have nearly 3 times more fps? (Im looking at the counter strike source benchmark scores)
Am I reading the tables wrong?

these results are a bit confusing, i too thought PCI-E is faster... but rest assured that a 6800GT is much faster than a 6600GT.

also, if you r from the UK it would be a good idea to check out www.overclockers.co.uk, they have a good variety of g-cards, good prices and good customer service (including next day delivery).

"U need any other specs?" yes, how big is your power suppy (psu)? You will need at least a 300Watts one but it is recommended to have at least 400W in case you will upgrade in future and for more system stability. 300w is rarely enough these days, especially if you have a prescott core and more devices...

"Is my comp good enough to handle games?" yes, in my opinion its a good platform for games. But keep in mind that games will be mostly dependant on your graphics card so i think u should treat yourself to a 6800GT, in order to fully maximise your pcs potential.
