Hi, I bought a Ge Force 6600 and since then i cant use media player for live cam or even playing saved movies. I have tried 4 different video drivers, reloaded dx9c, reloaded media player 10, reloaded windows xp, all to no help. Oh and as found using search i even loaded codecs as well. Any idea?

what the previous video card? I'd put the old card in and see if anything changes. I'm just guessing here, but could it also be an insufficient power problem? I hate those problems that are hard to pinpoint. Someday your gonna breath on it the right way and it will work again, I just know. :) lol

Download drivercleanerpro here at majorgeeks, follow the instructions in the readme to the LETTER,install the latest 77.72 from nvidia even if you already have them, then go into media player tools, options, performance, set performance to halfway, advanced, clear the box use overlays then go into your video card options colour correction, select apply colour corrections to all,all channels then click apply, see if that helps. :)

Ok, I tried what you suggested Riccy and now I dont get as much of a lock up as before. That is to say it will play some video files but without picture and sound.
I know my old card will play video files but it wont play the games i am now playing, i'm sorta stuck between a rock and a hard place.

What kind of media files are you tryin to play? And waht software are you using to play them?First download divx and media player 10 from the multimedia section in our downloads, try playing the media with both players ;)

I'm trying to play any movie type file, .mpg mainly.
I found out its not just windows media player that locks up, it is also winamp and quicktime. Seems like ANY movie type of file played on anything locks up.
Even the divx player locks up and yes i have downloaded the divx codecs and player. My last option before returning card to store is to run the Vcard from its own power supply to see if it makes a difference i guess. And if it does work better then i'm up for a better powersupply.
I dont know about you but it sure seems like a hardware problem to me.
    Thx again for the help
