    Hi Guys,

I guys, I just downloaded the nVidia 91.35, and to be honest, they're buggy for the CP and the performance doesn't seem on par to the 81.95 drivers I was using, a bit slower they appear!

So which drivers should I use for my GeForce 6600GT? which ones are the stablest?

    Sincearly,

    DAG

These drivers I think are more for SLI mode. Wont install on my rig..

I have reverted back to the last 'stable' release of 81.95, and I find that performance for my particular video card (GF6600) is far better using these drivers than any of the others.

And I get a noticeable increase in FPS in Prey/Call Of Duty 2/ etc over using the latest forceware release...

Strange, nVidia use to have the best drivers around, now they seem to be fiddling and releasing alot, Detonators anyone, I remember when everyone couldn't wait for the new Detonators or WHQL nVidia drivers, becuase it usually meant a performance increase one way or another for most users, now its more of a gamble to update and risk stability, take a performance hit or alike. :(

Ahhh well, lets just hope this is a phase....

Just comments on NVidia etc and Luthius' post.
I installed the latest Nvidia drivers and had a constant BlueScreen at startup til I restored to the older drivers.
Regarding good companies going bad with fiddling with good programs, I also installed Nero7 a few weeks ago and it was a real mess .. too much 'helping out' stuff and really spread like a rash through my puter.
I went back to Nero 6.6.0.13 and have been smiling since.
Perhaps the older drivers will be better than the more recent.
    Cheers.

    Hi Jim,

Regarding Nero 7, tsk tsk! I know exactly what you are saying, the EXACT same thing happened to me, and I also reverted back to an older nero version!

I dunno, maybe it's just us, I like nice rounded programs, simplistic, does the job and stable/reliable...

But they seem to be meddling alot, isn't the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?".... Maybe it's becuase they are getting ready for Windows Vista, which even a blatant turd bender could operate with all the tutorial stuff whacked into their! :)

I recently fiddled with Vista, and to be honest, I like it, but after disabling a fair few things, especially as a "Moderate" pc user, I hate all the popup help tablets when I am going along just fine! :)

But if I think about it, Windows XP to Windows Vista, Is like Nero 6 to Nero 7, Added features, etc changed core essentially, still the same old interface you were used to, just takes alot fighting your way through the new stuff to get to it. :)

    Cheers,

    David
