I recently upgraded from onboard video to the GeForce 7600 GS, but when playing any games after anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour I get major video problems. Pretty much this: http://i728.photobucket.com/albums/ww281/luciferbaal/screen0032fh.jpg

I do have the latest drivers from the nvidia website. I just really can not think of anything else to do. I would appreciate any help.

Have you checked the Display settings through Control Panel.

I also have onboard graphics and had some funny things happen after
installing an nVidia card. It was also a Seven series.

The refresh rate was changed even though I didn't "ask" it to,
if you know what I mean. :confused

Looks to me like the video card is failing or is overheating. I would check your temperatures with a program.

I think you are right on the temperature issue. The Motherboard was overheating. Didn't start til I put the card in. Could that be power issues or something?

    I only vaguely understand hardware.

I had a similar issue with an NVidia card a few years back, but it turned out to be an issue with outdated motherboard/chipset drivers. If it's not a failing fan on the video card, If it is heat build up inside the machine your best bet is to get some fans pulling in from the front and exhausting out the back of your machine. You may want to do a full clean including tying back hanging power cables with zap-straps; grab a can of compressed air and go to work.

How did you check / confirm this?

I have Speccy installed, as pclover suggested, and all I see is temperature for
    the CPU and hard drives.

It may sound weird but I have used the brush cleaning tool on my vacuum cleaner to clear out dust buildup.
I found that the only way to clean the CPU fan blades and heat sink was to pull off the fan. Think I used a damp q-tip.

Did you uninstall the old driver via add /remove programs before installing the
new driver? You must do that. If you have other nVidia drivers installed,
be careful to remove only the display driver.

If you have a on-board card it wont tell you the temperature of your card mjnc

What was the temperature of the gfx card Baal?

When it starts doing it alt tab and look at speccy

If it does it after 20 minutes- to and hour and it's fine before then it doesn't look like drivers to me.

Does the 7600 have a plug on it for external power and if so is it connected? In either case what is the wattage of your power supply, could be it's not powerful enough.

If the motherboard temp is getting high it make sure all fans are working. Also if the chipset chip on the motherboard doesn't have a heatsink on it and is getting hot, you can get one for it. Or add case fans to increase airflow.

    Thanks.
I know when I did have a card in there, I could see the temp (with another app).

However, that is not what I was asking about.
That's not the graphics card. Maybe he meant the CPU?? Don't know.
And, I don't what software will read & report that - that's why I asked.
