GeForce FX 5200 Problems

I recently bought a GeForce FX 5200 128MB PCI graphics card off of eBay and I cannot get it to work. I put it in, install the drivers and then disable the onboard chip's drivers. After the computer restarts, I cannot get picture out of either port that the monitor plugs into.

I have a hp pavilion 752n and the monitor that originally came with it. I ordered the card from a guy with an Asian name (possibly from Hong Kong?). The box it came in was pretty much universal. It had a bunch of different cards listed on the back with checkboxes next to them. There was a yellow sticker next to the card that was in the box. One important thing: There is absolutely no manufacturer listed on the box. It just says nVidia. There is no other company mentioned on the box, card or driver CD. Also, the driver CD doesn't just have nVidia drivers on it, it has and ATI driver and sound card drivers.

That's pretty much all I can think of. If you guys need more info in order to help me, just say so.

You got stiffed? maybe?, does the fan come on the card? Do you get a POST? (that beeping sound)

A few things I'm woundering?
One, if you have BIOS configured properly?
What card you really have, an FX 5200 or ATI ??, can you post some Pictures?
Do you have BIOS configured properly?
R & R the card, maybe not seated properly
Try installing the card in another slot.
Can you get into bios?

 

To answer the first person:
I do believe there is a fan. Everytime the computer starts up with the card in, it makes three beeps.

To answer the second person:
I haven't checked the BIOS, and I'm not really sure how to. How do I do that and what do I need to know when I check them?
It is a FX 5200. I could post some pictures, but I am not home right now.
When you say R & R do you mean make sure it's fitted tight in the slot?
I have tried installing it in different slots.

I suggested pictures to determine what card your have, We'll just assume it's what you think it is an FX 5200

3 beeps usually means no vga adapter in.

 

Well, I haven't posted here in a long time. Mainly because I gave up on trying to install the video card. The second reason is a little more complicated.

Sometime in December 2005, I noticed that my computer was doing some weird thing. I would turn it on, it would run fine, but then after a few minutes it would shurt off, though the orange light was still on the power button. The more and more I tried to turn it on, the less amount of time it would stay on. I asked about this problem on a different forum quite a long time ago, and a guy told me that he had a similar problem. He told me that my motherboard was burnt-out, and that I needed a new one.

Now, just recently I acquired my cousin's secondary computer. I really want to play Neverwinter Nights, but this computer has only 4mb of video RAM. So I have been interested in trying to get this stupid video card to work again.

I put in the card and restart the computer. I hear some beeps (probably 3 again) and I get no picture from the video card. BUT when I plug the moniter into the integrated chip, I see picture, but not until after the BIOS load and I am on the log on screen.

So... I have no idea how to check out the BIOS if I don't get picture until the log on screen....
