    Hi,
    my current PC spec is:

Microsoft Windows XP professional - Version 2002
    AMD Duron 1.30GHz Processor
    225MB SD Ram
    Asus AGP 4x
nForce2 32MB DDR chipset - that’s all i know about it, i can't seem to find it any where on the net.

    I bought a
    'GeForce2 Family'
    Mx-400
    w/64MB
    w/TV
    AGP 2x/4x
graphics card made by 'Sumevision' .
There wasn't any driver/installation disk at all when I bought it, I inserted the graphics card into my computer properly, and it starts up, i see every thing on screen but it says that it has no drivers for 'Video Control (VGA)' and for some odd reason my computer doesn't detect that it is a GeForce or even a graphics card at all.

The problems this has created for me is that it jitters like crazy when any animation takes place and no games will work at all, I have installed the nVidia 56.72 drivers and the most I’ve been successful at doing is getting to go to a resolution of 2048x1536.

Please will some one help me! Or at least tell me why it won't work?

Why are you at 2048X1536 with a 1.3 gig processor? I have a 3.2 gig with a gig of ram and still dont go over 1600X1200. Large resolution will draw on your video card, monitor, etc.

Next up, 225 megs of ram in a Duron could cause it. 256 is the minimum, with a Duron, its not enough. Add 256 megs, should do it.

Make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers for your board. Your lack of a proper updated inf driver for your AGP slot could cause this problem. Odds are its a VIA chipset and drivers called Via 4 in 1's are available in our driver section. Afterwards, remove the video card from there and uninstall the drivers and try again if its not properly detected.

I'm surprised you got to 2048x1536. At 24-bit color, one frame is 72MiB (with a 64MiB video card, you can't do this, AFAIK). At 16-bit color, it's a 48MiB frame. Your video card's memory must be able to hold one entire frame (plus some overhead). You're at the limit of what your video card is capable of displaying.

You might be able to go higher by reducing your color depth from 16-bit to 8-bit (256 colors), but I doubt your monitor will support such resolutions.

Exactly right. 2048x1536 is the card's limit. You'll get better performance using earlier drivers such as 44.xx or 45.xx, but even then it's too old-tech for most games these days, especially at that high resolution.

Thanks Major Attitude i'll try you idea, and i don't have it set to 2048x1536 I was just saying that i have the option to do so, i am currently running at 1024x768 which is working fine, the only problem i am having is that it hasn't detected the fact that I have a GeForce 2 plugged in.

Can you dl some program to get info on your mobo such as sandra? Then download new nforce drivers (assuming it's an nforce2) from nvidia. Oh and btw, that's not that great of a videocard, what card were you using before? If you don't know you were probably using the interegated vcard on the board, and that card may actually be better then the geforce2 mx, haha. I'd recommend a much better card, a geforce4 ti4200, or a radeon 8500/9100/9000/9200/9600... anything better then that might kill your psu.... yup...

well after a few weeks now i have gone out and spent some (by some i mean a lot) monies on a whole new computer:

    550w Power supply
    AMD 2500+ Athlon Barton
Brand new ASUS motherboard - AGP8x
    GeForce 6800 - (obviously 256MB - being the only one I can get ;)
1gig! of RAM! - Rocks my puter outta it grave!
which all fits nicely into my brand new casing with 2 extra fans built in, and yes its a DIY computer.

All this leaves my last puter pretty much in the dirt!

(use of language, used on purpose. If you know what I mean)
