Geforcefx 5200 card won't work with my windows xp

AMD Duron processor 1.2 ghz, 256 mb RAM, 30gb harddrive, SIS 730 rev2 motherboard, American Megatrends version 062710 BIOS, core speed 1194.7 mhz using 1.776 voltage.
Disabled the former driver in tools. Installed the new card after getting the latest driver update from nvidia. Kept getting the not digitally signed by microsoft message. Continued along anyway. At the end of the installation of the driver the screen went blank with the ensuing start up. Only started working when I reverted back to the old drivers in save mode. I also changed the setting in BIOS to ensure that xp would automatically try to install the new card.
The card is a Geforce fx 5200 Agp 8x 128mb Ram DDR with tv out

 

which version of drivers are you getting off NVIDIA's website? Make sure you get the drivers that are WHQL certified. The version you need to try is 53.03. That is the latest WHQL certified driver. If you DL'd that driver and you get the "not digitally signed" message something is wrong.

Also what do you mean "disabled the old driver in tools"? You have to go into add remove programs and uninstall the old driver that way. Then put the new card in BEFORE you install any more drivers.. turn on the comp and then install the new drivers.

 

I think you get the "not digitaly signed" if you use any of the reference drivers. Well, i thought so anyway.

 

really? hmmmmmmmmmmm i've never gotten that message when I downloaded a WHQL certified driver from NVIDIA's site... I only have gotten the message when they were not labelled WHQL certified.. but maybe that's just me.

 

The not digitally signed message means they are not "digitally signed" as WHQL certified. If they are WHQL certified you will not get a not signed message.
