I am making my first web page using Frontpage 2003, I am very new at this and have two books in which I taught myself. However, I'm looking for some tips/tricks to make this website better. I have tested out making my webpage using frames and also using tables. However, I can't find the best way to do what I have pictured in my mind. Here is what I want to do:

    1) I'd like to have a banner at the top of my page with the title of my page.
    2) I want a vertical link bar on the left to navigate through the page. When the hyperlinks are clicked, (i.e. "About Me"), I would like the text and images to the right of the link bar to change to that specific page.
    3) However, I would like the link bar at the left to be permanent so that the user can click on the different links regardless of what page he/she was on.
    4) I was able to do all this using 3 frames, however, here is the catch. I removed all borders and scroll bars to give it the look of one page, but I would like to have a single scroll bar on the right to scroll the ENTIRE page, not just one frame.

    Is this possible? Please help!

Ok, a good piece of software for banners, navibars etc is Xara Webstlye. I've always been a user of it - truely amazing software and easy to use. You can also install the add-ins which will work with frontpage too which i think is truely ingenius!
I recommend you buy it from their website - http://www.xara.com
Yes its very pricey I know, but a Trial version is available. I've not really got into Xara 3D it seems a bit pointless.

For your links, you will have to add a page by clicking the "new page" button on the toolbar, i think it looks like a white sheet of paper. Then once you've saved that, you can link to it by rightclicking the text you want to hyperlink, select hyperlink and then choose the file that you are linking to.
If that makes no sense, I'll do a screenshot and show you if need be.

I'm not sure about the links on the left hand side being permanent, but you could just copy and paste it to each page and see what happens.

Xara does great banners and links and is easy to use, once again I recommend it!

Thanks for your reply... as far as the links being permanently on the left side, that was probably the most important thing I needed to get done. I have tried copying and pasting, but that turned out to be a headache because everytime I did an update to the links, I had to update each and every page. I would like to get it set up so that they share the bars and I only have to update them once, which I was able to do by using frames, but just couldn't get that scrollbar on the left to scroll the entire page.

I talked to someone who told me to use shared borders... does anyone here agree with this? I don't know much about shared borders.
