While browsing computer books in Barnes & Nobel the reference to Zone Alarm was consistantly the preferred choice of each book author. I personnally like the features of Sygate & had Zone Alarm. Maybe I should have given Zone Alarm more of a chance, however...any comments regarding each ones performance from those of you quite familar with each?

I Have Used Zonealarm For Years ..
Zonealarm Has Always Been A Reliable Firewall.

    Have Tried Several Different Ones.
Over The Years Always Went Back To Zonealarm.

Read A Report That Outpost Personal Firewall Pro 2.0
    Was Better ..

    Got Hacked Using It ...

    When Back To Using Zonealarm.

Anyway What Ever One You Do Use ..
Always Read And Config. For Your Needs.

After The Initial Learning Period, Most Users Will Find No Further Adjustment Necessary.
Expert Users Can Configure Specific Firewall Rules To Allow Or Block Traffic.

Find It Easy To Use .. And Reliable.

A hardware firewall is the best solution. You can pick one up for about twice what you would pay for ZoneAlarm Pro.

    Agree ...

Always Better To Have Both ..

Most People Do Not Know How To Setup A
    Router / Hardware Firewall

Having Something Is Always Better Then Nothing :p

ZoneAlarm Is Free For Your Use.

    Hardware Firewall

Thanks for your input. Isn't a hardware firewall a linksys router? I have one on my Dell. Doesn't that provide the best protection for the Dell & my other computer that's also hooked together? Can you have Sygate Firewall on one computer and Zone Alarm on the other?

the router will do the job. You can hav firewalls on your pc's as well .. they can be different ones. Though the only real use they will provide is for outgoing connections provided you didn't open up any ports in the router.

    Router Firewall

KoDo...your statement..."Though the only real use they will provide is for outgoing connections provided you didn't open up any ports in the router." I was under the impression that the real use of my hardware firewall was to block bad
Incoming connections? Pls explain. I don't know if I have opened any of my 4 ports in the router. How do I tell?
