Geovison + Skype = no mic??

Hi Folks,

I have a Geovision 800 Multicamera System [with 4 x mics] and cannot configure the microphone to operate with Skype. [OS xp SP2] The Skype sound tester plays back a sound that sounds like scraping a minute violin and treading on cat in the far distance, when I shout down the mic.

I have found the Sound Hardware Wizard and that produces no results. As a beginner geek I presume I'm just asking too much of the system. Do I need a sound card?
