I apologize for reposting this, I was not getting an answer in my other thread, seemed logical to start a new thread dedicated to this question.

Any information about how to set-up my cable connection manually without Comcast's software would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!!

What operating system do you have and what kind of connection ADSL or CABLE modem?

Powers that be, could you please relocate this thread to Networking, if applicable. I just noticed that there was such a place. I apologize for the improper placement.

I don't really understand your question. You only configure network setting between the cable modem and yourself, not between comcast dn the cable modem. I have lots of experience with comcast internet connections (even called technical support once). Explain in detail exactly what your problem is.

Its pretty simple, if its like Cox, and I'm sure it is.

You hook up the cable modem to your computer via ethernet, preferably. You call Comcast, and have them authorize the modem.

    QED.

Theefool stated in my other post "Firefox question" that Comcasts software was not needed to set-up the cable connection. I was curious as to how one sets up the connection manually (without using Comcast's CD).

Just saw the other post. Nevermind all. I thought it was a method of doing things manually rather than automatically. Always interested in learning how to do things manually on this rig.

    Thanks for the info.

    I just said.

    ;)

The only thing needed is for the modem to be authorized. You give them the Mac and serial number.
