Getting it sorted, Slowly....

    Hi Guys,

Sorry I haven't been around for a while, been trying to get my life sorted out, as you may remember I posted about the problems I have been having health wise, I tell you what, Darwin is a place where you don't want to get crook without having lots of money, time, patience! Previously I didn't want to elaborate, but I`m fed up with hiding it so I`ll explain what happened:

I ended up in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) on april 14th this year with Kidney Failure, Liver Failure, Pancreatitis, Liver Absus (That got into my blood stream), Fluid on the lungs, Phumonia, Aswell as 4 infections, including Golden Staph (Which I caught in hospital)... Aswell as a stomach ulcer & torn absofikis, which they told me I tore from vomitting before my ICU admission, however I never threw up or poohed blood the week I was unconscious, nor for the first few days I was awake.

I had a trekky put in while I was unconscious, and when I was awake they would put a suction tube down the trekky and I would choke, because of the trekky I could not speak, and because I was choking when they did this I really do think that is what tore my absofukis, making me throw up large bowls of blood, poohing blood & requiring many blood transfusions.

Anyhow, I got out of hospital on the 12th may via HITH (Hospital In The Home), as they put a pick-line in my arm they goes through the artery in the arm, directly to your heart, I needed this for a lengthy course of Vancamicin to clean my blood from the liver absus infection, as well as the other infections. I was on my way to recovery.

(Note: I would have never ended up in ICU, but when I went into hospital a few days earlier, very pale, lethargic and hardly able to walk, the ED Dr sent me home, giving me a script for Omeprazole and saying I was fine!!!! The nurse that was also treating me that day said that the doctor was a complete idiot and wrong to send me home as I didn't look well, and said I would be back. sadly she was right!!!!)

Anyway, back to where I left off, I was OK until roughly the morning the news broke that M.J had passed away, during the night I remember waking up and taking a breath because I wasn't breathing, but then fell straight back asleep, but when I woke up early that morning I felt offish... Just unusual. my toes felt numb-ish, and when I stood up to go put the kettle on and go to the loo I was dizzy-ish...

Over the following days the numbness in my toes intensified, and the dizzy feeling became a constant thing as soon as I got up and walked (any motion), and regularly through the day when I was either sitting or laying down I would get a feeling quickly that I was falling. Over the following weeks this just got worse.

Then I became consumed with pain in my abdominal area, the first time I went to hospital they didn't know what it was and sent me home, the second time I went in by ambulance in agony, with my belly area making fountain sounds and it appeared like something was moving around in my belly slowly, I was given an enema and sent home. within a span of 2 weeks I went in by ambulance in agony, crying in pain, they gave me enema's and sent me home, the second to last time I went in, the cheeky doctor gave me an enema which did not work, and told me that they don't keep people in hospital for constipation!!!!

Luckily, 2 days after that I went in again by taxi, in excruciating pain, I couldn't handle it any more, and instead of the standard blood test and X-Ray, the doctor this time did a CT and picked up the bowel obstruction!

So between the 4th June - 4th August I was in hospital for the bowel obstruction, had 2 operations, 1st was to cut adhesion's from old scar tissue from past operations to see if that would rectify the problem. (Appendix Removed @ 13 y/o & Gall Bladder Removed 2 years earlier), this didn't help so I had to be cut open, where they found 'dead' bowel and had a cholestemoctemy or whatever they call it when they remove and rejoin the bowel!!

However while I was in their then I told the Doc's about the constant dizzy-ness and light headed, numb/tingly toes, etc. they didn't have an answer for me.

So I went to my local GP and told him, I also explained to him that it has me bed ridden most of the time, tense, scared. He put me on Valium!

Now, while I was on the Valium, the symptoms eased a bit, they are still there, just not as intense. After the Valium ran out I got fed up with it, I couldn't do anything, I was weak, stressed out from t all, I went to my doctor who could only shrug his shoulders as to what it was. So I went to the hospital a couple of days later because I woke up, made a cuppa, sat down to watch the morning new, then I got a rush feeling to my head, and then my heart went off its dial, which lasted around 20 seconds before slowing down, really scared the living daylights out of me.

All the hospital could say was it was likely I had a panic attack and put me back on Valium!

Then after that course of meds ran out I went out to find a new doctor because my old one was just useless! I found one that seemed to have my health in mind. he would not subscribe me Valium and informed me of the side affects it can have! basically scaring the crappa's out of me.

After a few days of sleep-less nights, I woke up and felt my heart beating, as if I had just done a marathon. then I started to get heart palpitations, really scaring the living daylights outta me!

To cut a long story short, I went into hospital 4 times over a weeks period, the last time I went in I was having very frequent palpitations, clammy, a weird but very quick rush sensation from the pancreas area down to the lower belly, shaky. This was all on top of the numb toes, constant dizziness, light headed, etc!

They sent me home, saying to see my GP, suggesting it was a case of anxiety mixed with my body withdrawing from the Valium,

I wasn't sleeping, 2 weeks ago I was a complete and utter wreck! I went to my GP who put me on Mirtazon (Mirtazapine), which is an Anti-Depressant that can apparently also help anxiety, but takes 4 to 6 weeks to get into your system and show any signs of it working.

Well, I went through a couple of days of absolute hell!

At the moment things have settled down a little bit, I`m fed up to here with the all that is going on, I just want my life back, and to stop going through this 24/7 nightmare!

I have gone to other doctors for 2nd, 3rd & 4th opinions, however each and everyone say something different which just makes my anxiety over the whole situation worse! No one seems interested in helping me now!

I personally think that yes, Anxiety is playing a part in it, but the numb toes, dizzy-ness, etc started one morning out of the blue, for no reason what so ever!

A lot of other things have happened as well, I was also put on a slew of medications while in hospital (ICU) then when I was dis-charged to Hospital In The Home, and I don't know if one of the medications they had me on has caused this even.

I was on these daily, for 2 weeks before home, then 4 weeks with HITH, & 2 weeks after HITH (8 Weeks total):

    Olanzapine (10mg 1x Morning, 1x Night)
    Diazapine 5mg (2x Morning, 2x Night)
Endone 5mg (8x Daily, 2x every 4 hours, when required)
Metronidazole 400mg (3x Daily with meals)
    Omeprazole 20mg (2x At Night)
    Potassium Chloride 600mg (2x Daily)
    Valium (5mg, 2x Morning, 2x Night)
Plus another that said avoid sunlight while taking this medication, which I never found out because they delivered my meds daily to my home in a pre-done meds day dosage box, it wasn't until HITH finished and they discharged me with 2 weeks of these meds, which included the packaging from the pharmacy.

Plus another one I can't quite remember, all I do remember was given 2 weeks worth to last me until they ran out, after HITH finished and the pick-line removed.

Anyway, this is what has been going on and why I haven't been online at all. still trying to get my crap sorted out, get better, and feel "Normal" again!

    Cheers,

    David
