Getting my 400 MHz FSB to run at 400, not 266. P4 2.X question.

    Hey guys,

My embarrassingly underpowered Dell w/ P4 2.2 has a MB with 400 MHz capable FSB, or so sayeth Windows. But the manual says if you don't have anything higher than a P4 2.2, the buss speed drops to only 266.

Can anyone give me advice about this, since I need more overall speed from my system for high volume sample streaming so I want to get it up to 400 MHz and install a gig of 400 MHz memory.

Does anyone know why the P4 is limiting the buss speed? Will anything above a 2.2 raise the speed to 400? I'm thinking the MB must actually be capable of 400 since Win XP is telling me this.

Also, how can I tell how high of a P4 will still work with my MB?

    Thanks much,
    Dave
