So I have an asus s96j laptop... and the stupid mic they built in to it just doesnt cut it for online gaming, so I bought a simple USB mic.

When I plug the mic in, it makes the little BEDOOP noise to let you know it sensed it, but no sound yet.

So I go to sounds and audio devices in control panel and test it, and it works fine, but after I leave the test, its back off again and only the silly built in mic works.

What do I need to do to tell this computer i want to use the USB mic and the USB mic only?

Maybe a stupid question, but you don't mention, so I have to ask:

In Sounds And Audio Devices, on the Audio, and Voice tabs, you have selected the other mic next under Sound and voice recording respectively??

Or maybe you ARE making the change, and it isn't sticking?

Yeah sorry, first thing I tried. Doesn't do a thing... built in mic still only works.

Now - when you go BACK INTO SAAD after making this change, are your changes still there?
