Hey all didn't really know where to put this,

I am getting ready to do a new BYOC computer and I was wondering the following selected hardware will work before I lay the cash down.

    ASUS Blitz Extreme motherboard
Intel® Core™2 Extreme quad-core processor clocked at 3 ghz, with 8mb L2 Cache at 1333 MHZ Front Side Bus,

Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series sound card

And 2 Nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultras running SLI's

My two computers I am using are a Alienware 5750 Laptop and a custom BYOC I made 4 years ago.

My 4 year old BYOC has served me well but it is finally show it's age. It has 2.8 Pentium 4 HT, 1.5 Gig Ram, SOYO Dragon Lite MB, Sound Blaster Live, ATi 9800 pro.

Both my PC and Laptop are able to run Half Life 2, but they are showing their age with the newest games like Bioshock (I haven't tried it on the PC, but I was told not to try it may crash)

My main concern about my newest BYOC item selection is specifically to the motherboard & graphics cards combo - from my understanding the ASUS Blitz Extreme has Crosslinx so it can be joined with the ATi's Crossfire capable cards and I just don't know if nVidia cards will work with the MB I selected.

    Thanks for any input

Uhm, before you buy these things. May I suggest you check out a site taht I buy all my parts from? It a great site that has cheap parts. Like a mother board that can hold 2GB of RAM and a 3.0GhZ CPU is $30. A AMD 3.0GhZ CPU on there is $60. So it's a great site if you want to buy this stuff. PLUS. I live near the warehouse and know the owners of the place so it's reliable.

Most of the parts are BRAND NEW. Like CPUs and MotherBoards are new, but the have some refurbished HDs and stuff. Anyway, URL is below:

Sounds like quite the rig there! make sure you get a very quality PSU to run that thing, especially with the 8800 Ultra SLI (honestly, the Ultras arent worth the extra money over the 8800GTX. Spend the money on an extra gig of ram or something lol, maybe a nice mouse/keyboard)

I dont know anything about that mobo but as you can probably guess, you cant run SLI on a crossfire board

    what are the other specs?

Other specs....I am not sure if I am going to go with 2 gig or ram or just say heck with it and go with 4 gigs of ram, DD2 - maybe DD3 - depends on what Mr. Pocketbook says.

As for the case and PSU I have already picked out. The case is going to be a Cooler Master Cosmos with a PC Power & Cooling 750 PSU - I though of going with the 1kw PSU, but I think that might be overkill.

Because of the heat this thing will make, it will be liquid cooled of course, probably my own custom creation of parts from Danger Den, Swift Tech, and others. along with tubing. Pretty much concerned with the CPU and the two GPU's, but if the MOBO has liquid cooling, might as well hook that up too.

I did see some LC capable Ram Chips with the connections so that caught my eye.

I am not concerned with Hard Drives or Disk Drives right now.

presonally, id go with the 1k PSU. better to go too high than too low.

you seem to know what you're doign here. Im liquid cooled as well, i love it. Are you going to watercool the GPUs as well? it will be tough to keep that all cool without maybe a dual radiator setup or something. Also, any overclocking in your future? i look forward to seeing how this turns out. oh, and what is your budget?

Yep, I am going to be liquid cooling the CPU and the GPU's as well.

Here is something that I haven't thought of recently, how good are the ATi cards lately, my older computer has an ATi 9800 pro and I've had good success with it. I haven't really looked at the ATi's since the nVidia 8800's are all the rage.

Nvidia blows ATI's DX10 cars out of the water, its no competition. ATI gave Nvidia a run for their money with the 7 series but with the 8 series its nowhere close

i kinda thought that. just making sure.

I also went with the 1kw.
