    Hi everybody there!

    :)

I have a peculiar problem related to the use of a medical textbook CD. I hope to find a solution in this forum as always with the help of u great guys there!

Although The medical textbook CD is copied and installed in my laptop, I have to insert CD everytime I want to read it. I learnt from one of my colleague that only solution for this is to create this CD in my hard disk. Now I want to know how to install this textbook so that I can use it without using CD everytime OR how to create a CD in harddisk? Which software is to be used for creating a CD in hard disk?

Can anyone there please guide me?

Don't know about that particular cd, but in general, to copy the contents is a simple matter of right clicking on the c drive / new / folder ...name it then open the cd folder and hit control+A , then copy to and save to the new folder.

When an application wants you to put the cd in, that can be for for two reasons: 1. It actually needs the data on it or 2. It checks the copy protection to see if you aren't using an illegal copy. If you can't force it to make a full install, the easiest way to get the CD on your hard drive is to make an image of it. This can be done with most cd-burning programs like Nero. Alcohol 120% is a good choice if the cd is copy protected.
When you have the image of the CD on your hard drive, you can mount it in a virtual drive like Daemon-Tools. If you used Alcohol 120%, there should already be a virtual drive present. Either way, mount the image and the computer will think you have the CD in the drive.
Copying the data off the CD using windows explorer will not work in most cases, because of the copy protection used.

    Hi!

    :)

Thank u both for ur suggestion and solution!

I have Nero Startsmart software installed in my laptop. Now which function of it is to be used to create an image of CD on my hard disc? Is it "copy & backup --> burn image to disc" or "Extras --> mount a disc image" or something else?

I had attempted alcohol 120% trial version to do the same 6 months back but could not understand how to use it. If I can do it Nero, it would be more convinient for me (little disc space now to install new programs).

Please give me the steps to create image of CD on the hard disc using Nero.

    Thanking u once again!
