Now that I have the XFX power supply.. I am getting shocked sometimes when I touch the case.

It feels like a static charge kind of shock , but it's happened about 5 times.

I don't get it when I touch the clothes washing machine next to the computer either.

I don't recall having the problem with a 300 watt bestec I was running the machine on before as well.

However, the house has no ground at all and I have to either use a 3 to 2 prong converter or rip out of the 3rd grounding prong on all devices in the house.

What should I do ? RMA the power supply? Put in the tested one they give me, and then call up an electrician to get ground ?

Put in the tested one they give me, and then call up an electrician to get ground is favourite with me, Using todays electrical products without a ground must be dodgy- the static could mess your computer up, if it is just static. Of course there is also the possibilty of a fault in the new psu........

I hope the company will let me RMA since newegg probably wont after I sent in the mail in rebate with the UPC label.

It is worth double checking all the internal connections, by unplugging and re-inserting to see if you are 'shorting' anywhere.

How would I know if I am shorting?

Also, the new power supply comes with a full 8 pin CPU hookup. The bestec came with a 4 pin.. if that matters at all ?

I would Deffinatly see about getting your electrics grounded as soon as ;), might cost a few $$$£££'s but its better than forking out for replacement parts more often than enough :cry

I've never heard of a house having no ground that sounds really dangerous.

I agree with what's been said get a ground line put in,there's nothing wrong with the power supply ,it could be that a current in being induced into the case by the wiring causing a potential difference between the statically charged you and the case.

I would suspect you upping the size of your PSU maybe what's causing the problems, this is what grounding is for but just a guess.

If you haven't got a ground a really hope your using RCD protectors in your fuse box for your own safety,if not you may want to look into those too.

It is an older house where they had BX wiring, the BX is metal jacketed and carries ground to every outlets receptacle box not the actual plug, the outlets can be refitted with three prong well worth the effort.
