Getting started with putty and FTDI Programmer

    Hi all,

    My first post:)

    I'm trying to read the output from a GPS module, and am trying Putty and a USB to serial adaptor to do this. Are there simple tests to set-up putty, then add a USB to serial adaptor (FTDI programmer) and check at each stage.

    All in steps please, so that I can write them down for next time.
