    well, there were other posts about thisissue in other forums. First step would be to unplug the devices, dvd drives, then plug them back in. If this does not fix your problem, the second method is 1. Go to Start -> Run

    2. Type: regedit

    3. Press OK

    4. The Registry Editor will appear.

    5. On the left side of the Editor, Click the (+) sign next to each of the following keys to expand them:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    SYSTEM
    CurrentControlSet
    Control
    Class

    6. Find the following key but don't click the (+) sign next to it, just click on it:
    {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    (be careful to find the correct one, you'll screw if you don't follow this exactly)

    7. On the right panel, look for 2 values named: "LowerFilters" and "UpperFilters"

    8. Right click on each of them and choose DELETE for both to erase them.

    9. Close the Registry Editor

    10. Restart computer.

    this is for mv61xx with event id 9.

    i hope this helps as it did seem to fix my problem, my drives showed up with drivers also showing again. Thanks again for the help over here, this place is sort of starting to turn into my goto place for help.
