I posted this a few weeks ago but am still having problems. PLEASE any suggestions....

    I have Windows XP Professional
    HP XE783

My CD drive is drive M: ) (I did not assign it this letter, it has always been that.) Lately in My Computer there is a Removable Drive D: ) listed. I have not installed any drive D: ) . CAN NOT get it to stay gone. If you right click on it there is no option to uninstall. If I go to Device Manager it is labeled as Quantum Fireball (does not sound familiar at all) and uninstall it from there it just comes back again upon restart. I have uninstalled ALL drivers, they are ALL there again after restart. The ONLY way I can get it to disappear temporarily is when SOMETIMES In the tray down by the clock there is an option to Remove Hardware Safely. If that option is not there I have to sometimes restart and restart hoping that option will pop up because I don't know how to get to it otherwise. (I would REALY like to know how to keep that up all the time, but it only shows up every so often upon restart, any help there?). When I click on that it shows me what is running on USB Ports, I can choose D: ) and choose to turn it off. The only thing I have added to my computer is a printer, there shouldn't be anything on the USB Ports! If that option is not there, I don't have a clue what to do.

Problem is, when the D: ) drive is in My Computer things just don't work right. Most CD's or games in drive M: ) just don't work and I can't copy CD's.

PLEASE help me figure out how to get rid of this D: ) !! What is happening?

Sounds like your printer is acting as a drive, I've never experienced it, but seen it mentioned around here. I don't remember the solution though, so there is a solution.

When the printer acts as a removeable drive, its for the media reader built into it. The only real fix at that point is to leave it alone :)

I've had the printer for over a year and this has just happened recently. And I have to do something, I can't use my CD drive. :)
