    Alright.
I'm taking ICT classes and we've had some asingments with Ghost.
It's a nifty program, but the asignments weren't that detailed.
Some questions that they left me with:
We used the version with which we could make and put back an image from the DOS programming, just incase the whole system crashed and we didn't have access to Windows to use a newer model of Ghost. Part of the asignment said 'Now you can put the image on a back-up medium and store it for later use.'
Question one: is it still possible to access the ghost image from a CD or something? I'm a bit of a novice in the use of DOS commands. What command do I need to give to access the CD drive and use the Image?

    Question two.
We used the version of Ghost that we had on our C: drives. But if the C: drive somehow got deleted, we needed a back-up of the program on our boot disk.
Problem is, the boot disk only had a couple of KB's space left, and Ghost took up about 650 KB's. So how can I use a back-up of the Ghost program, and still get into DOS? And from there, can Ghost see a CD/DVD drive to put my image back?

    Last question.
Is there a better program to use for image making that you'd recommend, one that could make an Image - maybe by taking only the necessary files - that could fit on a CD? The image we got at school was about 3,5 GB. How on earth am I gonna back-up that without a DVD player?

Sorry for the N00bish questions. But I need to start somewhere.
    Thanks

Ghost makes a DOS boot Disk. You boot with that and restore the image.
Initially you need windows to install Ghost but once you have a boot floppy you 'never' need Windows again, just the boot floppy to make / restore images.
With compression you can squeeze the GBs down to a few CDs or go to DVDs.. the are getting cheap now.

Thanks for the help so far, but there's another problem.

I have Norton Ghost 2002 and when I try to make a boot disk with CD-Rom support, it needs the MS-DOS files. But it won't get them off of my boot disk.
I tried some more, but they won't work either. It gives the the error code 3, whatever that means.

    Any ideas?

If you can just select the option to use PC-DOS. I know in ghost 2003 it is an iption but I donot know about 2002. Another option is to make a win98se boot disk Can be downloaded from here
    http://www.bootdisk.com/
if there is a place here on MG that has these boot floppy images please post the link. I just used bootdisk.com because I wasnt sure if MG hosted one.

Ahem... once you make your bootdisk you can use it at that portion of ghost when it asks for MS DOS boot files.

    Hope that helps

It has the option to use PC-DOS. But it gives the warning that it might not work with all pc's.
And I've used all sort of bootdisks, including a couple from bootdisk.com, but it doesn't accept any of them, saying the error number 3 occurs.
