    The one you like best.

Windows Picture And Fax Viewer displays .GIF files just fine. (Right click file, select 'Preview'). Personally, I'd say its best because its free, fairly lightweight, and works with Windows out of the box, but I know many would disagree with me.

You'll need to list your criteria for us to recommend "the best". What works for you might be useless to someone else. Or vice versa.

what i meant by the best was the quickest loading.

Currently mine open with an adobe program, i think its fireworks or something and it takes a while to load up.

    Ahhhh, okay then!

As I said above, Windows picture and fax viewer is pretty quick, assuming you have no other problems with Windows (its integrated, and prone to performance issues when Winders is broken). The advantage here is that you should already have it.

The fastest 3rd party viewer I know of is Irfanview.

I feel your pain with Adobe, though... their products are usually a little frustratingly slow.

To set WPFV as the default, do the following:

    1. Right-click a .GIF file
    2. Select 'Open With' (And then 'Choose Program' if available. If so, skip to step 4)
    3. Select 'Select A Program From The List', and press 'OK'
    4. Select WPFV from the list
    5. Check the box next to 'Always Use The Selected Program To Open This Type Of File'
    6. Apply your settings

Now, WPFV should be the default program for all .GIF files.

    Glad to hear it.

FWIW, this link gives us the commands necessary to use WPFV when it has been removed from your lists.

    Cheers!
