Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 and Athlon 64 3000+ (venice core) will not POST

Segate 200GB SATA HDD
Pioneer dual-layer DVD writer
PSU is a 400W RaidMAX

Does not POST. No beeps. It just hangs. Does reset when you press the reset button, does not power off unless you use the PSU switch at the back.

Tried single and no RAM, tried no GFX card, disconnected all drives from M/B & PSU, reset BIOS with jumper, and even re-seating the CPU.

I have read on some other boards that it may turn out to be either a dud CPU or motherboard.

 

So nothing happens when you power it up, or does it look as if it's booting up but can't see anything on the screen?

 

The power light comes on and the drives all spin up.

The monitor gets signal, but stays blank, though it seems to cycle through power up and power down.

 

Do you hear any Beep codes when you take some spare parts out ?

 

None. Same nothing happens.

 

Make sure PSU work then get other mobo for testing CPU,

PSU is fine, got a replacement motherboard.

Still not working. Will try for a replacement CPU.

 

If you take out the memory, do you get any beep codes? Then start the computer up. If not, then maybe the pc speaker isn't hooked up correctly.

 

Motherboard made no difference.

Returned the CPU, recieved the replacement. Installed it.

It runs, its fast, its sweet.
