Board: GMA-81865GME-775-RH Rev 3.9 BIOS FC
    GeForce 7800GS
    Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2GHz 800MHz FSB
    Kingston DDR 333 PC2700 KVR333X64C25/1G
    Thermaltake 420 W PSU

Most of the time the BIOS will lock up at memory testing and will not POST. Occasionally the BIOS will POST and load Windows XP but shortly after making it to the Windows desktop the board will restart and will no longer respond or POST until it is turned off and removed from power. I have tried using several different known good sticks of DDR 333 RAM with no luck.
Sometimes the BIOS will display 262272K for memory even with 1048567K still installed. Once I remove power and plug it back in the BIOS will display 1048567K again. I have tried removing components down to the required components to POST with no luck, BIOS will still lock up. When the BIOS locks up the Hard drive LED will stay steady on if IDE devices are connected.

I noticed in the BIOS the IRQs seem to be a little scattered.
    Code:
     PCI Devices
    Device IRQ
    USB 1.1 10
    USB 1.1 6
    USB 1.1 9
    USB 1.1 10
    USB 2.0 3
    IDE Cntrlr 14
    SMBus Cntrlr 5
    Multimedia 5
    Display Cntrlr 10
    Network 11
    ACPI 9
Could these IRQs be causing any problems..? :confused

Tried installing Windows XP but it locks up in the middle... so now won't boot at all... rolleyes

    Any suggestions appreciated..

    Hi,

"I have tried using several different known good sticks of DDR 333 RAM with no luck." Ok, firstly I'm unfamiliar with your MB and may check your link to it.
2nd. My motherboard manual states that if filling all three ram slots at the same specs at PC 2700 will readjust the speed performance of the ram sticks to a slower setting! I was getting file corruption up the ying yang to the point where I lost control of the OS and Pc, and reformatted my hard drive twice.

I removed this DDR 333 PC 2700 128 ram chip by Infineon to reduce my Ram to a one chip of PNY 1Gz, & a Kingston 256 Mg at DDR 333 PC 2700. I have had no corruption or reboots since doing this. Have you checked your manual to your motherboard? Make sure of the type of ram you should be using. You may need DDR2 type chips instead.

Stay away from Infineon ram sold at "Cheap Guys" stores! As soon as you do any harware change, get right into your BIOS and check it. Ah hell ya know that anyway. Hope this helps or at least give some insight!
    Tom
