    Hello.

    Recently, I was deleting unused programs using Add/Remove Programs. I accidentally hit "Uninstall" on the Gigabyte Raid Configurer - I managed to cancel the uninstall, but ever since, when my computer boots I get a message telling me that "The file jraid.sys on JMicron Driver Diskette is needed".

    What do I do? I have close to zero technical experience with my computer, so any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Do you have the Gigabyte install cd for the motherboard? If you do, you can reinstall the missing drivers. If not, you'll have to search their web site for the drivers for your mobo.

    I'll give it a go. Thanks.

    Hello again.

    I couldn't reinstall the driver as my CD drive disappeared from My Computer. I tried deleting the Gigabyte Raid Configurer completely hoping that my computer would automatically search for a new driver, but that didn't happen - instead, my computer started crashing randomly.

    Finally, I downloaded and installed the driver from the Gigabyte website. This stopped the error messages from appearing. Right after I booted the computer, my F: drive (usually my CD drive) reappeared under the name "Gigabyte". Clicking it revealed a blue and white screen prompting me to select drivers to install. I hit the "Xpress Install" button and rebooted my computer.

    However, now my CD drive remains missing. Clicking on my Program Files now reveals the Gigabyte Raid Configurer, which when selected informs me that "GBB36X Raid Device is not found!" Also, my audio driver now seems to be gone as well.

    I don't know what to do now - would appreciate it if someone helped out. For reference, my OS is Windows XP and my motherboard is Gigabyte 965P-DS3.

    Thanks in advance!

    Sometimes this is a problem with some program installs on XP - the cd drive can vanish after the install - found this registry fix over at "The Elder Geek". I've used it before myself, so it "can" work. If the Gigabyte raid prog messed things up, and it's not just a coincidental hardware failure or loose cable, you should be good.

    [Start] [Run] [Regedit]

    Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
    Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    Value Data: [Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters]
    Note: Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values. Delete only the data values.

    Exit Registry and Reboot

    As with all registry repairs and mods, back up your registry before trying this.
