hi, i have been told gimp 2 is the best free photo editing program.is it safe to download & relitavly easy to use. my operating system is xp. i use roxio media suite 10 & the program which came with my canon powershot. will gimp 2 be better than these to use?. all advise will be much appreacheated, thanks.

GIMP2 is a great free alternative to Adobe Photoshop series, and yes in the main its easy to use but depends what you wish to do as the higher end graphic applications are aimed at designers and professional photographers and not the basic end user.

But if you want basic photo editing then the likes of XNView and IrfanView as well as Live Photo Gallery are good.

Roxio media Suite is a good basic to medium application that covers editing and mastering, so do read up on its help file as it may do what you wish.
