Gmail Lag With New Update

I am not quite sure if most of you have experienced lag using gmail with the new update, i know i certainly have.

The problem is most of us did not want or ask for such an update and it wouldn't be much a problem IF we can go back to the old layout.

Initially when google was testing the update it had an option on the top of the settings that said '' go back to old look'' or something along those lines.

I did just that and as days went on eventually i logged in and gmail decided to upgrade yet once again without my permission or consent. I wouldn't care so much as i figured i could just go back again except that now i can't.. the option is no longer there and i can't find anything on my settings tab that would give me the old look and style.

The new theme is slower, less responsive, and eats more of computers resources.
I rather choose speed and reliability over something looking pretty and being laggy /slow

Does anything know how one can go back to the old look ?
