I have used "Go to Meeting" for work in the past.
    I have since retired.
I am now an "Ancient" College students.rolleyes
I do my study by correspondence on the net.
Other students( and myself) were wondering if there are any freeware or open source equivalents out in the WWW?
Any help and or advice would be appreciated.

    Hi

Not used this one but did research it before our work went with WebEx Enterprise, is in this free one, although do read the cut down list of options for free users https://www.yugma.com/

Did a quick search of alternatives and found these for you to review http://www.mikogo.com
http://vyew.com/site/ ( browser based so no install )

    Hi Cambronze,

I'm one of the Team members at Mikogo, so i just wanted to quickly contact you about your online meeting freeware question.

I don't know if you have had the time to check Mikogo out, but it really is an easy-to-use, fast, free screen sharing program. With Mikogo, you can invite up to 10 participants, switch presenter, access remote control, transfer files, select applications for transmission, and with the Skype Mikogo Extra, you can talk and share your desktop for free. The Skype Extra has been complimented as a great tool for elearning. So it might be something for you and your students.

I'd just like to say that i will return to this thread as often as possible. So if anyone has any questions about Mikogo, feel free to reply to this post.

Halo, i appreciate you taking the time to mention our software on your forum. Thank you for this. If you would like to know more about Mikogo, please do not hesitate to contact me.

In the meantime, enjoy free desktop sharing with Mikogo (http://www.mikogo.com).

    Regards,
    Andrew

Prior to thius post we had decided on Mikogo.
It seems to do what we need. It is easy to navigate. The only thing for me personally is that the home page is not as intuitive as I would like. It might just be that I am old and don't operate as a Gen Y :)
    Thanks for the headsup.

    Hi Cambronze
Great to hear that you're using Mikogo. We're aware that the homepage is lacking in some areas. We've been working on a new website and been receiving some suggestions via the Mikogo Forum. We think the new website will impress the users and be easier to navigate. So don't worry - it's not because of any generation differences :)
Like i said before, you're welcome to ask any questions you may have about Mikogo.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Hi Andrew and welcome to Majorgeeks.com, always great to have one of the team onboard the forums to reply to the software questions.

Looks a nice application and easy to use, hence my suggestion of it above, one thing I always like to know when using new software is basically nothing about the software but more where the company is based etc
