Gobbledygook

I'm don't know where else to post this, so sorry if it's in the wrong forum.

Every day I'm getting e-mails containing strings of gobbledygook text like:

"Sharon and I took dust bunny for (with light bulb of light bulb, toothpick over.Now and then, light bulb inside tea party teach prime minister near dolphin.living with tornado laugh and drink all night with around swamp, or trombone toward can be kind to inside ruffian."

There are no attachments or links, they don't ask for a reply, they don't contain viruses (as far as I can see), so what's the point of them?

Welcome to the lovely world of email spam ( the electronic version of junk mail )

I'm getting loads at present on one email address for either Viagra or Rolex Watches cheep!

just remember to delte them, never open an attachment and dont click the links in the message as it maybe that the site is more likely littered with spyware etc

Two guesses: The gobbledygook appears to be the type of stuff that typically appears in spam to confuse email program spam filters. If there's no advertisement or attachment, maybe it's just a test to see if your email address is valid-- if it didn't bounce, the sender will know the address can be spammed in the future.
