good free fw?

I have been using ZA Free and was really liking it. Till I updated to the latest version. Having nothing but troubles , I deleted that version and reinstalled the earlier version that was out before the last 5. update. Since then this freaking POS will not remember its settings for program controls.

This is their PAT fix, that doesn`t work btw:

" When that problem comes back you must refresh your database by doing this.Uncheck load ZoneAlarm at startup in the overview tab.
Reboot into safe mode. To force Windows into safe mode reboot the computer ( or simply turn it on if it's already off ), then repeatedly press F8 as soon the computer comes to life. It will eventually display a simple menu from with you can choose Safe Mode.
Go to the folder named internet logs in your windows directory. If you can not find it, do a search for it with find files/folders.
Open the folder and delete everything in it.
Empty your Recyclebin.
Reboot and start ZoneAlarm manually.
Check load ZoneAlarm at startup in the overview tab.

You lose the settings that you have hade made in ZoneAlarm.

Been there done that. It doesn`t work. So I am looking for another firewall that is friendly like ZA used to be. Please don not suggest Avast. I didn`t like that one, and trying to remove avast registry entries, the damn thing won`t let me now. Anything else out there? Thx

Hi, I've been using the BartWare personal firewall for a while now and it works really well (too well sometimes).

It is freeware too, which is always good.
